About

When you need high-impact, meticulous writing and editing, I am the freelancer to hire. I specialize in serving clients with the following products: internal and external communications, marketing materials, manuals, reports and articles, nonfiction ghostwriting, video scripts, and website content. My areas of subject matter expertise include business, psychology, investigations, science, law for a lay audience, health/fitness, pet ownership, cooking, gardening/horticulture, sewing, religion, music, literature, and skiing. In addition, I offer proofreading, copyediting, and expert review services. My expert review assesses whether psychological concepts, such as those in mystery and thriller novels, are portrayed accurately. Combined with my writing services, I also offer data analysis.

Flowstone is a rock formation created by the minerals dissolved in dripping water. Just as flowstone forms over time, I have built my expertise through years of education and specialized work. My academic credentials include a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Wellesley College and a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. I’ve studied research methods, mental health, personality, social psychology, and nonverbal decoding. While at John Jay, I was the Lab Coordinator for my program’s psychopathy lab. My Master’s thesis, an examination of psychopathy and perceptions of vulnerability in others, was published in The Journal of Interpersonal Violence in 2017.

I spent several years in private intelligence, drafting and editing numerous investigative reports. This work involved communicating background research, from complex lawsuits to business ventures and corporate structures to news articles. Later I transitioned to the public sector with the Massachusetts Office of the Inspector General, where I was a Lead Investigator. At the OIG, I wrote reports and gave presentations for internal stakeholders and other government agencies. I contributed to several public reports and created materials to support the prosecution of cases. In 2022, I was recognized with the John Williams performance award. I currently serve as a peer reviewer for The Journal of Interpersonal Violence.

I have expertise in both long and short form writing for many audiences, including academics and the public. My philosophy of writing is to develop clarity of thought before putting a single word on the page. To write is to think. No amount of pretty words will disguise poor content—and the content I deliver is always stellar. Through my editing services, I help writers develop their ideas and polish their words so the intended meaning shines through.
